These 6 ingredients Carob and Prune Bliss Balls are comes together in less than 5 minutes. Bliss Balls are the perfect treat to make whenever you’re craving something sweet. They’re a brilliant healthy on-the-go, mid afternoon snack or smoothie bowl toppers.
I usually make large batches and store them in the freezer. Most balls are made with dates but I thought try using prunes instead. This easy recipe combines carob powder, hemp and chia seeds with prunes and spiced with cinnamon.
Carob powder can be used whenever a recipe calls for cacao powder. To replace carob for cacao, simply use the same amount of cacao powder. Carob powder looks very much like cacao powder because it’s the same color. This naturally sweet powder is ground from the pods of the evergreen carob tree. Carob has a mildly sweet, caramel/chocolate flavor. It is earthier than cacao, but still really quite tasty! Carob is rich in antioxidants, very high in calcium and magnesium, low in fat and contains no caffeine.
These super decadent bliss balls as guilt-free as possible so you can feel good about eating them. They will be a little hard to put down;) Here’s the super simple, fail-proof recipe.
- 1 cup prunes
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoon hemp hearts
- 3 tablespoon chia seeds
- 2 tablespoon carob powder
- To make the balls simply pulse (in a food processor) all the ingredients together until well combined. Pour the mixture in a small bowl and place in a refrigerator for about 30 minutes (or until the mixture firm enough).
- Wet your hands a little bit and roll spoonful of the dough into little balls and roll them in carob powder. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate for later. Enjoy!
These Bliss Balls keep very well in the fridge, but I wonder how long this chocolaty goodness will last in your home.
