I love donuts, anything with chocolate actually. If you haven’t noticed from my dessert category chocolate is my favorite;) chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate! Is it obvious I’ve got a sweet tooth?! I’m a chocalcoholic too …
[PS … Make two batches, don’t say I didn’t warn you! if you suddenly find it’s not enough!] You have to try these – amazing! They taste as good as they look!
The ingredients are simple and you likely have them on hand. You’ll need almonds, pecan nuts, rolled oats, cacao powder, shredded coconut, dates for the donuts and raw or vegan chocolate bar, chia seeds for the coating.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup walnuts
1 cup pecan nuts
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup cacao powder
10 soft dates
seeds of 1 vanilla bean
1/4 cup filtered water
Combine all the ingredients in the food processor fitted with the S blade and process until well combined. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and roll into small dough balls, then flatten the balls and simply press a hole through the center. Make the hole with your finger or use apple corer to creating the shape.
Place in the dehydrator and dehydrate at 140°F for 2 hours. Decrease heat to 115°F and continue to dehydrate about an hour. Remove from the dehydrator and dip each donuts in the melted chocolate slightly half way up the sides, letting the excess to drip off. Then place them on the wire rack chocolate side up. After you have dipped the donuts drizzle with chia seeds, just before the chocolate sets. Repeat until all donuts are coated. Store in an air tight container in the fridge. Enjoy!
