There’s nothing like apple dessert in the fall! This right here, this is what fall about.
Baked apple is the simplest desserts, but the addition of spice and the dry fruits gives these apples a wonderful delicate taste.
They make such a delicious desserts that are great any day of the week, or even for a special occasion. It’s simple, fragrant, and mighty tasty, just like any apple dessert should be. Comfort food, easy to make, sweet and satisfying. It’s a perfect, warm dessert for a cool autumn day.
Pick a nice, crisp apple ( about 6 ) that’s sweet, but not too sweet. Slice off the tops, then scoop out the core (this is a little tricky but doable. I used a very sharp paring knife and a melon-baller. It doesn’t have to look perfect ) and stuff the insides with a mix of orange, apple, prunes, raisins, cranberry, cinnamon … fruit mince.
Ingredients:
2 apple, cubed
1 orange, peeled
1/3 cup dried prunes
1/3 cup dried raisins
1/4 cup dried cranberries, optional
1 tsp cinnamon
Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a large bowl, next add in 1/4 cup raisins and stir well. Take out about 4 heaped tbsp from the mixture and set aside*
Oh and top them with my favorite crispy crumble mixture. It’s like… apple crisp.
Ingredients:
*4 heaped tbsp from the fruit mince above
juice of 1/2 orange
1/2 cup gluten-free rolled oats
1 tbsp crushed walnuts
Place all the ingredients in a bowl and stir until well combined. Spoon top of your apples, sprinkle with crushed walnuts.
Warm in the dehydrator at 140 °F for 2 hours. Enjoy!
Crispy warm apple and warm filling with a nice crunchy topping … what can I say, I freaking love this treat! The only thing that could make this simple autumn dessert even better would be a scoop of ice cream (plant based of course). I don’t know about you but I like ice cream top of everything. Any leftover apples make a fantastic breakfast for the next day.
If you’re thinking that two hours is too long to wait for these snacks, believe me when I say it’s worth it (The apples take about 25 -30 minutes in the oven).
They’re so good. This apple dessert perfect for fall! Go make them.
